The architectural ensemble of the Savior's Transfiguration Monastery (the XVIth c) includes the Savior's Transfiguration Cathedral, the Church of the Yaroslavl Wonder-Workers, the Refectory, Prior's Chamber, the Belfry, the Sacristy, the building of monastic cells, towers and stone wall. In 1612 the people's volunteer corps under Minin and Pozharsky set out from its walls to liberate Moscow. In the 1790s, the manuscript of the ancient Russian poem "The Tale of Igor's Campaign" was found in the monastery's library.
