Comment

These pieces were struck by the Soviets in order to purchase good in Nationalist-controlled areas. While struck in silver, stylistic irregularities appear in the ear, mustache, hairline, and calligraphy.

Interesting fact

One interesting fact about the Standard circulation coin 1 Yuan (Szechuan-Shensi Soviet; "Fat Man dollar" imitation) ND (1931-1934) from Republic of China made of Silver is that it was designed to resemble the Silver Dollar coins issued by the United States, with a similar size, weight, and composition. This was done as part of a plan to create a currency that could compete with the US dollar in international trade, and to promote the use of the yuan as a global reserve currency. Despite its similarity to the US dollar, the coin's design features distinctively Chinese elements, such as the Chinese characters on the obverse and the dragon on the reverse.
