One interesting fact about the Pattern 1 Yuan (Pattern; Memento: Birth of the Republic; gold) ND (1912-1927) from Republic of China made of Gold is that it was designed by the renowned Chinese artist, Xu Beihong, who was known for his work in the style of the Chinese Renaissance. Xu Beihong's design for the coin features a portrait of Sun Yat-sen, the founder of the Republic of China, on the obverse, and a depiction of the Mausoleum of the First Qin Emperor on the reverse.
