Comment

The issues of 1912 and 1927 can be differentiated through what separates the reverse legend: 1912 has stars and 1927 has rosettes. These copper issues seemingly only come with rosettes (1927).

Interesting fact

The Pattern 1 Yuan coin was designed by the renowned Chinese artist, Xu Beihong, who was also a famous painter and calligrapher. He was commissioned by the National Government to design the coin in 1927, and his design features a portrait of Sun Yat-sen, the founder of the Republic of China, on the obverse, and a scene of the First National Congress on the reverse. The coin was minted in copper and was intended to be used as a circulating coin, but it was never officially released due to political instability and economic turmoil in China at the time. As a result, the Pattern 1 Yuan coin is now a rare and highly sought-after collector's item.
