Comment
The pictured specimen is Barker 123.0b, a type with closed Tong head and different left radical in Han.
This coin is not related to the Ho Dynasty. It is a later common trade cash circa 1650, imitating the Chinese Posterior Han coin which was itself used in the monsoon trade. The attribution by Toda was his imagination.
Interesting fact
The 1 Văn - Hán Nguyên ND (1403-1407) coin from the Empire of Vietnam was made of copper, which was a common material used for coinage during that time period. However, what makes this coin stand out is that it was produced during a time of great cultural and economic exchange between Vietnam and China. The coin's design reflects this exchange, as it features both Vietnamese and Chinese characters, highlighting the blending of cultures and traditions that occurred during this period. This coin is a unique representation of the rich history and cultural heritage of Vietnam and its relationships with neighboring countries.
