Eight examples are known, with only two being in private collections. The other are located in museums in Florence, London, New York (2), Paris, and Vatican City. There has been much controversy on dating Etruscan coins, and as such, the date ranges my vary per source.
The Beast series was struck using Populonia's first silver standard.
Interesting fact
The Boar Tridrachm coin from Populonia (Etruria) features a unique design on its reverse side, depicting a boar's head with its mouth open, revealing its teeth. This design was meant to symbolize the strength and ferocity of the Etruscan people, who were known for their skilled warriors and powerful military. The coin's design also includes an inscription in the Etruscan alphabet, which reads "TAMURA", likely the name of the coin's issuer or a local deity. This coin is a rare and valuable example of Etruscan currency and artistry, providing a glimpse into the culture and traditions of ancient Etruria.
