Interesting fact
The 1 Thaler coin from the Margraviate of Burgau, issued during the reign of Maria Theresia (1773-1780), features an interesting design element - a small hole in the center of the coin. This hole was intentionally drilled during the minting process and served as a way to test the coin's authenticity. The hole was meant to ensure that the coin was made of pure silver, as genuine silver coins would have a distinctive ring when dropped on a hard surface. This feature, known as a "test cut," was a common practice in the minting of silver coins during that time period.
