Interesting fact
The 1 Thaler coin from the Electorate of Saxony (Albertinian Line) featuring Frederick August I, issued in 1711, was made of silver, but it was also one of the first coins to use a new technology called "milled" or "reeded" edges. This was a security feature that helped to prevent counterfeiting by making it difficult for criminals to file down the edges of the coin to make it appear as though it was made of a more valuable metal. The milled edges also made it easier for people to tell if a coin had been tampered with, and it became a common feature on many coins in the following centuries.
