Interesting fact

The 1 Speciedaler coin from Norway, issued during the reign of King Frederik III (1653-1656), was made of silver with a purity of .875, which is equivalent to 87.5% silver. This high silver content made the coin valuable not only as a medium of exchange but also as a store of value. In fact, the coin was so valuable that it was often used as a form of dowry for brides in Norway during that time period.
