Launched in 2013 and struck under license by MMTC-PAMP in Delhi, these were the first gold sovereigns to be produced in India since the single-year issues of George V were struck in Bombay in 1918. In 2014, the sovereign issue was joined by the first official half sovereigns to have been struck in India.
