Comment
The yellow-tailed woolly monkey (Oreonax flavicauda) is a monkey endemic to Peru. It is a rare primate species found only in the Peruvian Andes, in the departments of Amazonas and San Martin, as well as bordering areas of La Libertad, Huánuco, and Loreto. The yellow-tailed woolly monkey was at first classified in the genus Lagothrix along with other woolly monkeys, but due to debatable primary sources, they have been placed in Oreonax. Oreonax has been proposed to be a subgenus of Lagothrix, but others have regarded it as a full genus. A recent extensive study proves that the yellow-tailed woolly monkey may indeed be in Lagothrix.Interesting fact
The Yellow-tailed woolly Monkey coin from Peru is a unique and interesting coin because it features a QR code on its reverse side. When scanned, the QR code directs users to a website that provides information about the conservation efforts of the Yellow-tailed woolly Monkey, an endangered species in Peru. This feature adds an educational and interactive element to the coin, making it stand out from other commemorative coins.
