Comment
Cabeza de Vaca (1470 - 1532 A.D.), located in the present-day department of Tumbes, was the northernmost Inca provincial capital on the Peruvian coast.Emperor Tupac Yupanqui annexed the Tumbes region to the Inca empire and ordered that Cabeza de Vaca - like the other Inca provincial capitals - be built according to the so-called "architecture of power": the temple of the sun, the acllahuasi, the ceremonial plaza, workshops and warehouses. These beautiful buildings of mud and stone were described by the chroniclers who arrived with Francisco Pizarro in 1528 and 1532.
Interesting fact
The interesting fact about this coin is that it features the image of a conquistador, specifically, Alvar Nunez Cabeza de Vaca, who was a Spanish explorer and conquistador who played a significant role in the colonization of South America, particularly in Peru.
