Coins with 'VIGO' below the bust were struck with silver captured from a Spanish treasure fleet returning from America in Vigo Bay, northern Spain, in October 1702.The standard weight of this coin was 6/31 troy ounce or 92.9 grains.

Interesting fact
One interesting fact about the 1 Shilling - Anne (2nd bust) coin is that it was minted during a time of great change in England. Queen Anne, who ruled from 1702 to 1714, was the last monarch of the House of Stuart and the last British monarch to be crowned in Westminster Abbey. During her reign, the Acts of Union were passed, which united England and Scotland under the name of Great Britain.
