Comment

The ship of Oniyahu is part of the Hebrew seal from the First Temple, 8th Century B.C.E. Though the Phoenicians were the best known Mediterranean sailors, Jews acquired a high level of seafaring skills. King Solomon ships went out to sea from Etzion Gever to Africa.
The vessel depicted on the Onihayu seal is a superb example of an Israelite sailing ship from the First Temple period. The most minute details are visible.
Two millenia later, the circle closed. The ancient maritime tradition was revived. It has found expression in the existence of a modern Israeli Navy and a merchant fleet.

Interesting fact

The Ship of Oniyahu coin features a unique design that showcases a ship from the time of King Solomon, which is believed to have been used for trade and commerce. The ship is depicted sailing through the waters of the Red Sea, with the sun setting in the background. The design is meant to symbolize the rich history and cultural heritage of Israel, and the coin is considered a valuable collector's item among numismatists.
