Interesting fact
The Pattern 1 Sen coin was designed by the Japanese government in 1938 as a potential replacement for the existing 1 sen coin, which was made of bronze. However, the outbreak of World War II in 1941 halted the production of the new coin, and only a small number of pattern coins were minted. As a result, the Pattern 1 Sen - Shōwa (20mm Aluminium Pattern) 13 (1938) is now a highly sought-after collector's item, with only a few examples known to exist.
