Interesting fact
The 1 Schwertgroschen coin from the Electorate of Saxony (Albertinian Line) features an image of Frederick II, also known as Frederick the Gentle, who was the Elector of Saxony from 1457 to 1464. During his reign, Frederick II introduced a number of reforms, including the creation of a new coinage system that replaced the old system of bartering with silver and gold with a standardized system of coinage. This coin, the 1 Schwertgroschen, was part of that new system and was used widely throughout the German States during Frederick II's reign.
