Comment
Flemish imitative coinage (mostly 16th c. on a large flan).Interesting fact
One interesting fact about the 1 Ryal - Edward IV ('Flemish Ryal') ND (1466-1469) coin is that it was minted during a time of great turmoil in England. Edward IV, who ruled from 1461 to 1470 and then again from 1471 to 1483, was the first Yorkist king of England and his reign was marked by the Wars of the Roses, a series of civil wars fought between the houses of York and Lancaster. Despite this, the coinage during his reign was of high quality and featured beautiful designs, such as the Flemish Ryal, which was minted in Ghent, Flanders (now part of Belgium).
