Pattern Strike of KM#57.2Note by http://www.chiefacoins.com :
"It is a pattern issue, produced in Copper; Nickel-Brass plated. There is another version of this coin in the same material but without date. The above coin is also seen and mentioned under KM#57.2 as produced in "Copper-Nickel""
Interesting fact
The Pattern 1 Rupee coin was designed to replace the previous 1 Rupee coin that was made of cupro-nickel. The new coin was introduced in 1988 and was made of nickel brass plated copper, which was a more cost-effective material. This change in material was done to reduce the cost of production, as the previous cupro-nickel coins were becoming too expensive to produce. The Pattern 1 Rupee coin was used from 1988 to 1991, after which it was replaced by a new design.
