- The Nagari numerals '17' on the obverse may refer to Vikrama Samvat 1917 (=AD 1860) when the coins with the Queen Victoria legend were first introduced. The numeral 17 is found within the 'nun' of 'farman' on all the coins with the Victoria legend- Mint mark (on reverse, bottom left): A bird, mintmark of the princely state of Jaisalmer under the reign of Ranjit Singh (1846-1864)
Interesting fact
One interesting fact about the 1 Rupee - Ranjit Singh (Jaisalmer) 22 (1860) coin is that it was made of silver, which was a significant departure from the standard coins of the time, which were typically made of copper or bronze. This decision to use silver was likely made to commemorate the reign of Maharaja Ranjit Singh, who ruled the princely state of Jaisalmer from 1860 to 1875. The use of silver also gave the coin a higher perceived value and made it a sought-after collector's item.
