Comment
Pattern for circulation issue of 1947 (last issue of British Indian Coinage). This would be the only British Indian Rupee Issue intended for circulation without precious metal content, something which would not be fixed after independence. Very limited issue, with three known from this particular set type, and is in proof finish for presentation purposes as well.
Interesting fact
The A Pattern 1 Rupee - George VI (Nickel Pattern) 1946 from India - British (British India) made of Nickel weighing 11.7 g is a rare and unique coin, with only a few known examples in existence. It was created as a pattern coin, meaning it was not intended for circulation but rather as a trial or sample coin. The coin features King George VI on the obverse and a portrait of Lady Liberty on the reverse. The use of nickel in the coin's composition is also notable, as it was a departure from the traditional silver or copper used in Indian rupee coins at the time.
