Comment
- The principal way to identify this series when the date, mint name and regnal year are missing is the arrangement of the dot groups and the shape of the lotus mark on reverse. Coins with full date or RY are seldom found. When the Regnal Year is visible it refers to the reign of Emperor Shah Alam and not to Alamgir in whose name the coins were struck- Mint Masulipatnam (now known as Machilipatnam)
Interesting fact
One interesting fact about this coin is that it was minted during the reign of Alamgir II, who was the last Mughal Emperor to have any real power and influence. His reign saw the gradual decline of the Mughal Empire, and this coin was minted during a time of great political and economic change in India. Despite this, the coin still holds significant historical value and is a sought-after collector's item among numismatists today.
