Date of issue: 17 OCT 2002The Golden Eagle (Aquila chrysaetos) nests in the dense forests and on unassailable rocks of the Caucasus, Altai, Sayany mountains and in the south of the Far East as veil. It is protected by the State.
Interesting fact
The Golden Eagle coin has a unique feature - it has a built-in security element in the form of a microscopic inscription on the reverse side of the coin, which is visible only under a special magnifying glass. This inscription is a series of tiny letters "РОССИЯ" (Rossiya, meaning "Russia" in Russian) that are arranged in a spiral pattern. This feature makes the coin particularly difficult to counterfeit.
