The Himalayan bear inhabits in cedar forests, in the valleys of rivers, on the slopes of mountains in Khabarovsk and Primorsky Territories. The Himalayan bear is a rare and disappearing species of Russian wildlife, which is protected in the Preserves Lazovsk, Sikhote-Alin and Ussuriysk.

Interesting fact

The Himalayan Black Bear coin, minted in 1994, was part of a series of non-circulating coins issued by Russia to promote the conservation of endangered species. The coin's design features an image of a Himalayan Black Bear, a species native to the Himalayan region, on the obverse, and the Russian coat of arms on the reverse. The coin is made of silver (.900) and weighs 17.44 grams. It's an interesting fact that the Himalayan Black Bear is considered a sacred animal in some Himalayan cultures and is revered as a symbol of strength and protection.
