The Altai mountain ram (Ovis ammon ammon Linnaeus) inhabits the mountains of the Southern Siberia, the Tuva and Altai regions. After the intensive hunting on the threshold of the XIXth — XXth centuries it disappeared in the region behind Baikal and in the Western Altai. It is protected by the State.

Interesting fact

The Altai Mountain Ram coin was designed by Russian artist, A. V. Bakhrushin, and features a unique relief design that gives the impression of a 3D effect. The ram's horns and body are raised above the coin's surface, creating a striking visual effect that sets this coin apart from other coins.
