Comment

Unlisted in Krause.

The Central Bank of Oman (CBO) made a mistake by listing the face value as 2 Rials instead of 1 Rial twice (1/5/2007 and 3/1/2016). They listed the coin correctly as Census 2003 RO. 1 GOLD but shows a face value in error of RO. 2.
The weight of 38.70 grams is also a mistake. If you study the lists of the CBO of 2007 and 2016, you will see that there was NO coin ever listed with 38.70 grams (except this one) but several coins with a weight of 37.80 grams.

Interesting fact

One interesting fact about the 1 Rial (Population Census; Gold) 2003 coin from Oman is that it has a unique design that reflects the country's commitment to preserving its cultural heritage. The coin features an image of a traditional Omani village, complete with traditional buildings, palm trees, and a falaj (a traditional irrigation system). This design was chosen to highlight the importance of preserving Oman's cultural heritage and traditional way of life, even as the country modernizes and develops.
