Interesting fact
The 1 Real coin from Philip IV's reign (1621-1651) was the first coin to feature the royal arms of Spain on one side and the Catholic monarchs on the other. This design change was a departure from the previous coins that had featured the king's name and title on one side and the shield of arms on the other. This new design was meant to emphasize the power and authority of the Spanish monarchy and its connection to the Catholic Church.
