Comment
Nicaragua being part of the Captaincy General of Guatemala didn't needed to mint their own coins; this is why they don't have any regular Colonial Real coin. The only coins under the Real system were Proclamation coins minted near the end of the colony. In this case this coin corresponds to their brief period under the Mexican Empire.Interesting fact
The 1 Real - Agustín I (Proclamation coinage) 1822 from Nicaragua made of Silver is an interesting coin because it was minted during a time of political turmoil in Nicaragua. The coin was issued during the short-lived reign of Agustín I, who was a member of the liberal party and was appointed as the leader of Nicaragua by the Mexican Emperor, Agustín de Iturbide. However, Agustín I's rule was opposed by the conservative party, and he was eventually overthrown and exiled. Despite this political instability, the coin remains a valuable piece of Nicaragua's history and a symbol of the country's struggle for independence.
