Interesting fact
The 1 Quarto coin was part of a series of coins issued by the Spanish colonial government in the Philippines during the 19th century. The coin features an image of Ferdinand VII on one side and the coat of arms of Spain on the other. It was made of copper and had a diameter of 25mm. Interestingly, the 1 Quarto coin was not widely used in the Philippines during its time, as it was mainly used for foreign trade. Instead, the local population used bartering or other forms of exchange, such as the "sanggolo" (a small shell used as a form of currency). The coin's limited use and the fact that it was not widely circulated have made it a rare and valuable collector's item today.
