Interesting fact
The 1 Quadrupla coin from the Duchy of Savoy, minted during the reign of Charles Emmanuel I (1610-1630), was a significant departure from the standard coinage of the time. It was one of the first coins to feature a portrait of the ruling monarch, which was a departure from the traditional depiction of religious symbols and motifs on coins. This coin also had a unique design, with the obverse featuring a crowned shield with the Savoyard coat of arms, and the reverse featuring a cross with the motto "FERT" (Latin for "he bears") above it. The coin's gold content and unique design made it a valuable and sought-after collector's item, and it remains a prized piece among numismatists today.
