Comment
Note: Struck at al-Fasher mint from 1909-1914. Flan size varies and most appear crude due to thinness of flan.Off center and double strikes exist. Those bearing the date AH1327, regnal year 17 are probably the sultan's approved type. Other hejira and regnal years are engraving errors of filled dies.
Interesting fact
The 1 Qirsh - Ali Dinar 321-7132 (1909) coin from Darfur (Sudan) is interesting because it was made of Billon, a metal alloy that is composed of a combination of metals, typically copper, silver, and sometimes gold. The use of Billon in coinage was common in the early 20th century, but it has largely been replaced by more durable and less expensive materials like cupro-nickel and stainless steel. The fact that this coin was made of Billon adds a unique touch to its history and story.
