Interesting fact
The coin commemorates the 75th anniversary of Operation Chastise, a World War II operation in which a squadron of British Lancaster bombers carried out a daring raid on several German dams, including the Möhne and Eder dams, in May 1943. The operation was led by Wing Commander Guy Gibson, who was awarded the Victoria Cross for his bravery and leadership. The coin's design features an image of a Lancaster bomber flying over the Möhne dam, with the words "Operation Chastise" and "Gibraltar 2018" inscribed below.
