The Norman Sillman 'English Lions' reverse was originally introduced in 1997 with the Maklouf third portrait on the obverse. This second edition was issued in the 2002 Golden Jubilee set and was also struck in base metal for circulation as well as in silver proof and silver piedfort.© The Royal Mint, 2002
The 2008 piece was issued in a 14-piece set to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the £1 coin and was also struck in silver proof with selective gold plating.
