Comment
The Norman Sillman heraldic emblem of the 'Celtic Cross' reverse was originally introduced in 1996 with the Maklouf third portrait on the obverse. This issue was struck as part of a set of 14 different £1 designs with selected gold plating to the reverse (2,005 sales), issued to mark the twenty fifth anniversary of the first issue of the UK one pound coin in 1983 with an issue limit of 3,000 for the complete set. Also issued individually (2,855 sales), while also being struck in gold proof. Issue Limit: 15,000Interesting fact
One interesting fact about the coin is that it features a unique combination of silver and gold plating, with the Celtic Cross design on the reverse side of the coin being selectively plated with 24-karat gold. This adds an extra layer of visual interest and beauty to the coin, making it a standout piece for collectors.
