Comment
The third release of the Treasures of India Wildlife series features the Elephant, the national heritage animal of India, and a cultural icon. The animal symbolizes divinity, power, and good fortune in India. The Indian Elephant is native to the mainland Asia, however their wild populations are estimated to have declined by at least 50% to a century ago, and are currently under Endangered status. The "CASH" denomination shown on the coin is also one of historical significance. CASH coins were currency units used during the time of British rule in India. While the origin of the word "CASH" has been up to debate, one thought is that it was derived from the Sanskrit word "karsa", equaling a weight of Silver of Gold equal to 1/400 of a "tola".
Interesting fact
The interesting fact about this coin is that it features an unique design of the Elephant, which is a symbol of strength, wisdom, and good luck in many cultures, and it's the first coin of a new series called "Cash India Wildlife" that will feature different wildlife species from India.
