Interesting fact

One interesting fact about the 1985-1997 Guernsey 1 Pound coin featuring Elizabeth II's 3rd portrait is that it was the first coin to feature a new portrait of the Queen since the coinage was introduced in 1969. The new portrait was designed by sculptor Raphael Maklouf and features a more mature and regal image of the Queen, compared to the previous depictions. This change in design was a significant update to the coinage and marked a new era in the history of Guernsey's currency.
