The first coin of the South African Republic, some 837 pieces were struck at the mint of Ralph Heaton & Sons, Birmingham, England using alluvial gold from the Lydenburg district. .KM#1.1, Hern#B2 Coarse Beard '8' in date appears to be double-struck;
