According to Mitchiner & Yih (2013:37) these coins were part of an abortive attempt to reform Palembang's coinage. Millies (1871:112), Mitchiner & Yih (2013:37), and Robinson (2015) all concurred that the inscribed date is AH 1162 (= AD 1749), which corresponds to the reign of Mahmud Badaruddin I Jayo Wikramo (1724–1757) in the Palembang Sultanate.Parts of the inscription are illegible and there are multiple suggestion for their reading. Millies (1871:112) can only confidently read ...fi bilad Palembang dar salam 1162في بلد ڤلمبڠ دار(ال)سلام١١٦٢... "... the city of Palembang, abode of peace 1162." Millies was not certain whether the initial part reads Al-Sultan السلطان or falus فلوس . This reading is reproduced by Robinson (2015). Based on examination of numerous specimen, Mitchiner & Yih (2013:37) suggested that the initial part is 'alamat علامت.
Robinson (2015) provided the following variants:

Interesting fact
The interesting fact about this coin is that it was made of tin, which was a common material used for coinage in the Sultanate of Palembang during that time period.
