Frederick II (1211 – 1246), known as Frederick the Quarrelsome (Friedrich der Streitbare), was Duke of Austria and Styria from 1230 until his death. He was the fifth and last Austrian duke from the House of Babenberg. He was killed in the Battle of the Leitha River, leaving no male heirs.Interesting fact
One interesting fact about this coin is that it was minted during the reign of Frederick II, also known as Frederick the Great, who was the Duke of Austria and King of the Romans from 1230 to 1246. He was a member of the House of Habsburg and was known for his military campaigns and his support of the arts and culture. This coin, which features an image of Frederick II on one side and a cross on the other, was likely used in everyday transactions throughout the Duchy of Austria during his reign.
