After it was founded in 1872, around 40 workers built small steam engines and milling machines. Shortly before the turn of the 20th century, development of the new specialty of large compressors, then 1900 conversion to “Pokorny & Wittekind Maschinenbau AG”, 1913 change of name as above. 1914-18 Establishment of a special department for the construction of trucks and buses. In 1944, the plant between Frankfurt Westbahnhof and Gaswerk West suffered severe war damage.
