Comment

Football (soccer) is the most important sports on most of Latin-American and European countries. World Championship is celebrated every 4 years, started at Uruguay on 1930. Previously, 2 World Championships were organized by F.I.F.A. during Olympic games 1924 and 1928, and on last one was decided to separate from Olympic games. Uruguay won both 1924 & 1928 cups, therefore was elected to organize the first Championship out of Olympics. Uruguay also won the 1930 cup. Championship is celebrated every 4 years, with exception of 1942 and 1946, that was suspended owing to WWII.

Mexico was 1st country out of Europe and South America to organize this Championship on 1970 and repeated on 1986.

(NOTE: this coin is n/d, and on Krause SCWC shows it as minted on 1986, that is incorrect. Version of 5 Pesos correctly shows as 1985 issue)
