Interesting fact
One interesting fact about the 1 Peso (Rafael Carrera) coin from Guatemala is that it was minted during a time of political turmoil in the country. Rafael Carrera, the president of Guatemala from 1844 to 1848 and again from 1851 to 1865, was a conservative leader who opposed the liberal reforms that were being implemented in the country at the time. The coin was minted in 1859, just a year after Carrera had regained power following a civil war, and it features his image on one side and the Guatemalan coat of arms on the other. Despite the political tensions of the time, the coin was widely accepted and used throughout Guatemala, and it remains a valuable collector's item to this day.
