Interesting fact

The Pattern 1 Peso coin was designed by the Uruguayan artist and sculptor, José Belloni. He was known for his work in creating monuments, sculptures, and medals, and his design for the Pattern 1 Peso coin features a portrait of José Artigas, a national hero of Uruguay, on the obverse side. The reverse side of the coin features the coat of arms of Uruguay and the denomination. The coin was minted in 1968 to commemorate the 150th anniversary of Artigas' death.
