Comment
Reverse from KM# 496 (1 Peso Morelos 1985), on planchet and obverse from KM# 493 (100 Pesos Carranza, 1985)Interesting fact
The 1985 Mexican 1 Peso coin featuring Morelos and the mule on its reverse is a unique coin because it was mistakenly minted with the wrong metal composition. Instead of being made of the usual copper-nickel alloy, this coin was minted with brass, which is an alloy of copper and zinc. This error was not discovered until after the coins had been distributed, and as a result, the brass coins were quickly pulled from circulation and replaced with correctly minted coins. This mistake has made the brass version of the coin a sought-after collector's item among numismatists.
