Twipsy is the official mascot of the Hannover exposition, created by Javier Mariscal, selected from 17 proposals, is meant to represent Mankind, Nature and Technology, the Expo motto, and is formed by different elements, wearing a high heel shoe on one foot and a flat one on the other, body is formed by star, cell, bird, insect, mammal parts, with half moon shaped head.Additionally to celebrate Hannover expo, Cuba minted a series of coins, recalling other world expositions previously held in the world.
This coin shows "Crystal Palace" building, huge building made of steel and glass, where the exposition was held. The construction concept was innovative, as was built in segments (panels) that could be dismounted, and constructed again in other pace, with other configurations.

Interesting fact
The 1 Peso (Expo 2000 - London) 1998 coin from Cuba is unique in that it features a holographic image of a dancer on its reverse side, which is not commonly found on coins.
