Interesting fact
The coin's obverse design, which features a portrait of Bernardo O'Higgins, was created by the Chilean artist and sculptor, Luis Guzmán. Guzmán was a prominent artist in Chile and was known for his work in various mediums, including sculpture, painting, and printmaking. His design for the 1 Peso coin was chosen through a competition held by the Central Bank of Chile in 1974, and it has been used on the coin ever since.
