On 1886 the Germans Gottlieb Daimler and Karl Benz, started producing the first automobiles, about at same time. for this reason they are considered "fathers of automobile".The coin represents a Daimler-Benz model, not from 1886, but around 1925, when the 2 companies merged.
In fact, the first auto-propelled vehicle was more the shape of a motorcycle than today's car, it had 2 big wheels one on front to guide, the other on back with traction, and 2 smaller wheels on sides, to stabilize the vehicle.
The Benz model from 1886 had 3 wheel, while the Daimler's had 4 wheels.
The left image represents Karl Benz's wife, Bertha, who, without knowledge of her husband made the first long distance trip on 1888, with their sons, Eugen and Richard, covering a total distance of 180 kilometers.
