Comment

The coat of arms of Nueva Granada (type 1834-1861) is a shield divided into three horizontal stripes. The upper contains a gold pomegranate on blue field, with gold cornucopias on each of its sides. In the middle, on a platinum colored field, a red cap on a spear as a symbol of liberty. In the lower field there is an image of the Isthmus of Panama with blue land, silver waters and 2 black sailing ships. The shield is held in the upper part by a green laurel wreath hanging from the beak of a condor, with its wings spread, and in a waving ribbon with national motto: "Liberty and Order".
