Comment

The brass 1 peseta was nicknamed “La Rubia” (The Blonde), as it is issued with a woman's face in a golden-colored alloy.

During the conflict of the Spanish Civil War, the Royal Mint of Madrid was transferred, due to the siege of the Nationalists on Madrid, from the capital of Spain to Castellón (Valencian Community) and, later, to Aspe, in the province of Alicante ( Valencian Community).

This coin seems to have been issued when the Mint was in Castellón.

Interesting fact

The 1 Peseta "Rubia" coin from Spain, issued in 1937, was designed by artist José María Pemán, who was known for his work in various artistic fields, including sculpture, painting, and architecture.
