Comment

The Phrygian cap is a soft cone-shaped headgear with the top facing towards and falls back a little. This hat was originally made and worn by the inhabitants of Phrygia (Asia Minor), but in the Roman Empire the cap was worn by freed slaves. This custom is at the origin of it as a symbol of freedom.

Interesting fact

The 1 Peseta (Euzkadi) coin from 1937 features a unique design that reflects the cultural and political history of the Basque region in Spain. The coin's obverse side features an image of a Basque woman wearing a traditional headdress and holding a shield with the Basque coat of arms. The reverse side features an image of a tree, symbolizing strength and resilience, and the coin's denomination. The use of Basque symbols and imagery on the coin highlights the region's distinct cultural identity and its desire for autonomy during a time of political turmoil in Spain.
