The 1 Perper - Nikola I 1909 coin from Montenegro was designed by the Czech artist and sculptor, František Štěpánek. Štěpánek was a prominent artist in his time and was known for his work on various coins and medals, including the coronation medal of Emperor Franz Joseph I of Austria. The coin features a portrait of King Nikola I of Montenegro on one side and the Montenegrin coat of arms on the other. It was minted in 1909 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Nikola I's reign.
